On May 13th 2014 on the occasion of 223 aniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, in Shanghai’s Hyatt on the Bund, was held a banquet organized by the Consulate General of Poland in Shanghai. The importance of this event raised the presence of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki, Vice Mayer of Shanghai Mr Shi Guanghui, members of the diplomatic corps of Shanghai, Polish entrepreneurs and organizations working towards bringing together economy and culture of Poland and China.
In his opening speech Consul General R.P. Krzysztof S. Smyk marked a turning point of the document, which for the Poles became the Constitution of May 3, 1791. It was passed in the parliament Quadrennial in 1791. Polish constitution was second in the world, and Europe's first governmental Basic Law. Recalling other historical events Mr. Consul went to falling for 2014 celebrations: twenty-five years of political transformation, decade of Polish accession to the European Union as well as sixty-five anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic.
During the banquet were presented to dignified guests, delicious Polish Culinary prepared by the chefs from the best Polish restaurants. Polish tasting products were composed as part of the program „European meat - tradition and taste” financed from the budgets of Polish and EU.
Artistic performance was done by Peter Thomas and Chinese pianist Jenny Q Chai, who performed in Carnegie Hall.The artists presented works of Fryderyk Chopin and Henry Cowell.
